Designers from four graduate programs at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will show off their work this month at , an off the beaten path exploration of design. Running June 8 - July 5 at the SAIC Sullivan Galleries (33 South State Street), SET OFF features final projects by students in SAIC graduate programs for Master of Design in Designed Objects; Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment; Master of Architecture with an Emphasis in Interior Architecture; and Master of Architecture. The free exhibition invites the public to explore emerging designers at the largest of five SAIC showcases running during NeoCon, North America’s largest design exhibition.

It was 1973, and the Chicago art scene was awash with the Hairy Who and traditional artists. A group of recent SAIC graduates, believing their work would never be shown in conventional art galleries, decided to shake things up by creating their own space, and N.A.M.E. Gallery was born. The Ryerson & Burnham Libraries offer topic driven and general library orientations for SAIC graduate and undergraduate classes. A librarian works directly with the instructor to structure the sessions in a way most appropriate for the course.On June 15, 2013, Christine Shallenberg (SAIC, MFA Art and Technology, 2014) and Josh Hoglund (SAIC, MFA Performance, 2016) hosted a POETRY, PERFORMANCE, AND BBQ party at their Chicago apartment.
