The Nurse Candidate Program (NCP)

Recent baccalaureate degree graduates who attended a Navy NC pipeline baccalaureate program while in an active duty status (NROTC, STA-21, Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program/MECP, or Nurse Candidate Program/NCP) may be appointed before licensure, but must take the NCLEX to become a registered professional nurse at the first opportunity.

The Army Nurse Candidate Program was established by the U.S. Army Health Care Team for undergraduate students pursuing a BSN from an accredited institution. You’ll get a $5,000 bonus when you begin the program and an additional $5,000 at graduation. There is also a monthly stipend of $1,000 during those months you are enrolled in a full-time nursing program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or National League for Nursing.

Financing education is no small matter! Tuition, books, and supplies all add up to a hefty financial liability that can take years to overcome. The Nurse Candidate Program provides a monthly stipend for full time students in accredited Bachelor of Science Nursing programs. Students can enroll after their sophomore year and receive an initial grant of $10,000 (paid in two installments of $5000 each), plus $1000 a month for up to 24 months.

Navy Nurse Candidate Program; Nursing application essay

I am in a nursing program right now, I will graduate in May of 2015. I will take both my NCLEX and state boards before I join a BSN program due to the fact that I still have a few semesters worth of basics to finish. I have been researching about joining the Navy. Honestly, the more I research the more excited I get. I can't think of a better opportunity to advance my experience/career than becoming a Navy nurse. I have been wondering an awful lot about the nurse candidate program. I was planning on contacting a recruiter after I graduate with my associates degree and inquire about the program seeing as it is hard to find information about it.
