I was the recipient of the NAHN 2009 scholarship award and a National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurses Association (NCEMNA) research award. I am active with the Graduate Student Nurses Association at UCLA and a student member of Association of Nurse Leaders (ACNL). I was also a research assistant on a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) -*KNF: Kids N Fitness *, a program aimed at researching and helping the Hispanic community understand fitness and nutrition to prevent childhood obesity.

Evangelista created the Pro-Heart protocols, which do not include supplements and which stress gradual and reasonable changes to eating and exercise habits, while on the nursing faculty at UCLA. The study recruits subjects there and at UC Irvine, which she joined in 2011.
I'm 99% positive that it is not possible to double major with one being nursing at UCLA. There's a strict four year plan to follow, with at least one summer being spent at UCLA. It's a stretch even to minor, but it is doable, if one is willing to take summer classes or take a very heavy course load each quarter.Before joining UCLA, Furukawa was a critical care nurse specialist at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank and a critical care clinical nurse, educator, and assistant unit manager at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.
Furukawa received her master's in nursing at UCLA and a BSN from California State University, Los Angeles. She also holds an undergraduate degree in liberal studies from California State University, Northridge.Meg Furukawa has been involved in nursing informatics at UCLA for the past 13 years. After working as the clinical nurse specialist for the Medical Intensive Care Unit, which was host to the pilot test of Essentris, she joined the clinical systems team to help with the development, implementation, education, and support of Essentris in all three of UCLA Health's hospitals. She also worked on the development, education, implementation, and support of barcoded medication administration at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. After joining the CareConnect team, Furukawa focused on integrated areas, including testing, workflows, medication administration, curriculum development, policies, and business continuity access.Finally, in 1951 the Academic Senate gave recognition to the UC Berkeley-San Francisco School of Nursing, as well as a School of Nursing at UCLA.
