There are JHU security guards on every corner surrounding the hospital campus, but not on every block within a walkable distance. Small wonder that none of us live nearby.

Training - Please consider taking walker/personal safety training. It is very informative, makes you more aware, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions. Of course you are welcome walk without doing the training first. Walker trainings will be run by JHU Security and the Northern District. They will be at CVCBD*s new office, 2434 Saint Paul Street. For up to date training dates please check the CVCBD calendar or contact the CVCBD. You can can RSVP by phone or email.
"The neighborhoods around Homewood are not devastated, but outsiders (and a good number of current residents) perceive them as rundown, unsafe, and lacking the quality of life and exciting retail establishments that characterize so many other areas around the universities with which JHU competes," the report says. "Urban legend or not, there is a reason why people believe that JHU Security should advise incoming freshmen not to go beyond certain streets."
